Measuring the Immune Response

The immune system is increasingly recognized as playing an important role in all aspects of medicine. However, it’s not currently possible to routinely perform a sophisticated evaluation of a patient’s immune system. Methylation Cytometry(TM), Cellintec’s unique and powerful immune profiling technology, measures the presence and concentration of tens of immune cell types in blood. The test offers a novel, scalable, and economic approach to profiling the immune system using the DNA methylation status of immune cells to derive quantitative, easily standardized immune cell profiles. These profiles can easily be tracked through time and compared between patients and across clinical sites.

Cellintec’s Methylation Cytometry test is based on the use of DNA methylation signatures to quantify the immune cells circulating in blood. With this technique, it is possible to simultaneously measure the presence and concentration of tens of immune cell types, giving a broad view of the immune system status. DNA can easily be extracted from readily acquired blood samples, making it possible to frequently and easily measure the immune response. The extracted DNA is quite stable, enabling the use of fresh, old or frozen samples and greatly simplifying sample handling and logistics. The highly reproducible results make it possible to accurately compare results through time, across testing sites, and between patients.
